Paige's 5th grade teacher has her class decorate a tree every year. Our little committee of moms brainstormed fun decorations that the kids could make … like this candy ornament, which was my little project with the kids. Who knew plastic plates and glitter could look so cute?
We took far more ornaments and decor than we thought we would need, but actually ended up using almost everything. We laughed that you could hardly see any of the tree under all of the decor. :)
It sold for $1,500 to a nice little family.
Almost just as fun for us was seeing this tree being assembled across from our tree… How funny/creepy is that life-size Napoleon Dynamite?
The man standing there is the writer & director of the film, Jared Hess, and his wife is the woman in blue (Jerusha Hess, who directed Austenland -- fun movie trivia for movie nerds like me). They had so many really funny things going on in this little Christmas scene ...
Loved the photography by Deb on the mantle! Notice the plate of tater tots by the fireplace. The garland on the tree also had tater tots on it.

A couple of days after we decorated the tree, the 5th grade classes got to go on a field trip to see the tree in its finished state. These cute girls & I had fun checking the place out. The amazing playhouses are one of my favorite parts of the Festival every year. Can you imagine having this in the backyard?
Scones are also another tradition. Not sure if this 'Did You Know' makes me want to eat one or not, though.
