• Harvesting the garden and fruit trees: Wow did we ever wind up with a ginormous amount of food in our backyard this year. And still going .... We planted lots and then the fruit trees have also had a hayday producing fruit. Our kids have learned to hate the words, "Let's all go out and weed the garden" or "Let's go pick up the apricots on the ground." We're swimming in apples at the moment so please come help yourself! Up to date, I have made apricot jam, bottled peaches, frozen peaches, made several batches of salsa, am working on applesauce and apple pie filling this week and we've just plain eaten tons of veggies and fruit. Tons.
We had some fun cousin time ... family reunions on both sides and fun visits from out-of-town cousins.
This gnome found his way into our garden. Not usually a fan of garden gnomes but we all kinda like this guy.
Haley and friends have taken up the hobby of archery. No surprise to anyone that pre-teen girls everywhere are flocking to the sport in the wake of Hunger Games. We found this little dive of a place where they can shoot to their hearts content.
In anticipation of seeing the movie 'The Odd Life of Timothy Green,' Haley and Sydney painted leaves on themselves to resemble the boy in the film. When he ended up dying in the movie, they were rethinking how cool that idea was. :)
I took the kids to the Brigham City Temple open house. Two days later, we were in the Nauvoo Temple. Pretty cool.
Funny to think how different this summer was than last. Last year, we were showing our house and having to keep it spotless 24/7. We spent a lot of time at Lagoon. This year, garden, garden, and garden. Now that we have one year under our belts in this house, maybe we can tailor the backyard to fit our needs/wants a little better for next year. Pool, anyone?
