Sunday dinner
For as long as we've been married, Sunday dinner at the Mayfields' is an almost weekly tradition. Mom makes roast and mashed potatoes every Sunday (the favorite part of Mike's week) and each family brings a side dish of some kind. The best part for me (aside from not having to cook) is knowing that we'll get to see everyone each week. Most of the family lives close by, and while we don't all go to Sunday dinner every week, someone is always there to talk and hang out with.

After dinner, the kids scatter (outside to play or downstairs to make forts) and the adults just sit and talk, play games, feed babies ... whatever. It's just fun to be together.

In mom and dad's absence, the rest of us are planning to rotate monthly Sunday dinners so we'll still see each other fairly often. But it won't quite be the same and we all know it.

Thanks for the memories. Those gatherings are my favorite time of the week. I love you all and hope you can get together often.
That looks like the best time ever. What fantastic memories, not only for the kids but for the adults. I wish my family were close enough to do that. So cool!! The fact that the family is so close, though, will make the Mayfield's mission such a special thing for the kids. They'll miss them, of course, but what an example!! Awesome. :)
I love the poker game in the middle of it all!
Which mission in Africa?
Zimbabwe. They'll be CES missionaries.
